【John Doe】urayutakaが、あえてurayutakaとしての枠組みを外す試みとして、仮想の人物「John Doe」を設定。それぞれが異なる視点や表現方法を持つ「別の作家」として、urayutaka自身が制作を行っています。実在の自分と架空の作家、そのあいだに立つことで広がる自由な発想と、そこから生まれる意外な制約——。

John Doeは、視覚メディアを通じて形成される私たちの価値観や欲望、そして検閲の感覚を問い直す作品。

日常的・商業的・性的イメージを、半透明のバブルラップ越しに提示することで、「見えそうで見えない」状態を作り出しています。これは単なる物理的なレイヤーではなく、情報・感情・倫理のフィルターとして機能します。私たちは、何を見たいと思い、何を見せるべきではないと感じるのか。

「包まれている」ことは、守られていることなのか。それとも、隠されているのか。あるいは、見せびらかすための新たな戦略なのか――。このシリーズは、現代における視覚文化とアイデンティティの関係を再考させます。

【John Doe】urayutaka has set up a virtual character “John Doe” as an attempt to venture outside the framework as urayutaka. urayutaka himself creates works as a “different artist” with different viewpoints and methods of expression. By standing in the space between his real self and a fictional artist, urayutaka's free ideas expand, and the unexpected restrictions that arise from them.

This work questions the values, desires, and sense of censorship that are shaped through visual media.

By presenting everyday, commercial, and sexual imagery through a layer of semi-transparent bubble wrap, it creates a state of “almost visible, yet obscured.” This is not merely a physical layer, but functions as a filter of information, emotion, and ethics. What do we want to see? And what do we feel should not be shown?

Is being “wrapped” a form of protection? Or is it concealment? Or perhaps, a new strategy for display?

This series prompts a reexamination of the relationship between visual culture and identity in contemporary society.
